OUR WORK

Give a Child a Brighter Future helps vulnerable children across Lebanon access life-saving medical care, specialised treatment, and long-term support. Through partnerships with hospitals and healthcare professionals, the charity continues to provide essential care to children and families when they need it most.

SUPPORT OUR WORK

Delivering Care Since 1985

Since 1985, Give a Child a Brighter Future has raised more than £6 million in support of vulnerable children across Lebanon. The charity remains deeply grateful for the generosity of its donors, volunteers, and partners who continue to make this work possible.

Funds raised help provide medical equipment, specialised treatment, and long-term healthcare and therapy programmes. Many of these initiatives continue over many years, allowing the charity to maintain lasting partnerships while responding to the changing needs of children across Lebanon.

WHERE WE WORK

Speech & Psychomotor Therapy

Established in 1995, Give a Child a Brighter Future's Speech Therapy Programme supports children experiencing speech, language, hearing, and communication difficulties. Through specialised therapy, the programme helps children build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and better engage with everyday life.

Introduced in 2019, the Psychomotor Therapy Programme provides long-term developmental support for children requiring additional care. Through personalised therapy sessions, children are supported in developing motor, cognitive, emotional, and social skills in a safe and encouraging environment.

Eye & Ear Programme

Since 1989, the Eye and Ear Programme has provided Lebanese children with essential sensory healthcare, including hearing aids and prescription glasses. The initiative helps children experiencing hearing and visual difficulties access early treatment and specialist equipment that improve development, learning, and confidence.

Many children continue to receive follow-up care as they grow and their needs change over time. Although the charity's work has broadened in recent years to address more urgent needs, the programme remains a longstanding part of its efforts to improve children's health and wellbeing across Lebanon.

Children's Dialysis Support

For nearly three decades, Give a Child a Brighter Future has supported children in Lebanon experiencing kidney disease through specialised dialysis and long-term medical care. Based at the charity’s children’s dialysis unit at Hayek Hospital in Beirut, the programme provides life-saving treatment and ongoing follow-up care for vulnerable children requiring specialised renal care.

Alongside dialysis sessions, the charity helps cover hospitalisation, medication, medical tests, and transport, ensuring children can continue their treatment safely and consistently over time.

At Give a Child a Brighter Future, every project is rooted in a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children across Lebanon. Through its latest initiative, the charity has helped transform the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Makassed General Hospital, enhancing the quality, safety, and responsiveness of care for critically ill children. Addressing Urgent Needs Before the upgrade, the PICU faced several challenges. Monitoring equipment was outdated and not fully integrated, limiting the ability to continuously track vital signs. Medical teams often relied on intermittent readings and manual follow-up, increasing the risk of delayed intervention during critical moments. The physical environment added further strain. Crowded bedside areas, multiple standalone devices, and exposed wiring affected workflow, infection control, and patient safety. Inconsistent equipment across beds also led to variations in care delivery. Delivering a Modern Solution With the support of Give a Child a Brighter Future, a comprehensive upgrade has now been completed. Advanced medical equipment was installed, and each bed is now equipped with multi-parameter monitoring systems that enable continuous, real-time observation. Central monitoring and alert systems also allow medical teams to quickly detect and respond to any signs of deterioration. The unit layout has been redesigned to create a more organised and efficient clinical environment, with standardised equipment across all beds to support safer and more consistent care.

Give a Child a Brighter Future is proud to collaborate with Beit el Baraka to support children and families across Lebanon through meaningful, long-term initiatives. Recently featured in Beit el Baraka's March newsletter , this partnership led to the installation of a new computer lab at Collège des Dominicaines de Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrande in Aaraiya. Designed to improve access to digital learning, the project has equipped the school with computer stations, essential technology, and upgraded facilities, now supporting over 600 students. These resources provide students with access to digital tools, helping to build essential skills and expand learning opportunities in an increasingly digital world. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to education and creating opportunities that support children's development beyond immediate needs.

Through its partnership with Hammoud Hospital University Medical Center, Give a Child a Brighter Future is helping provide life-saving care to children across South Lebanon, ensuring that young patients facing cancer can access the treatment they urgently need. At the heart of this effort is the Lisa Moufarrige Paediatric Haematology Oncology Center, a dedicated facility designed to expand access to specialised care while offering children and their families renewed hope during some of life’s most difficult moments. The centre is named in loving memory of Lisa Moufarrige (1969–2023), a deeply valued committee member whose compassion, dedication, and tireless work with the charity helped make this project possible. Her legacy lives on through the children and families who now receive vital care at the centre. A Dedicated Space for Treatment and Care Since opening in October 2023, the centre has provided a welcoming, fully equipped space to support children through complex treatment. Building on a unit first established in 2020, it now serves as a key referral centre for paediatric patients across South Lebanon. The facility includes seven specialised patient rooms, infusion and inpatient treatment areas, procedure rooms, and a dedicated dialysis unit for children, bringing essential services together in one place. This integrated approach allows children to receive treatment closer to home, easing the burden on families and supporting continuity throughout their journey. Care is delivered by highly trained medical, nursing, and pharmacy teams, working closely with specialists at the American University of Beirut Medical Center to maintain a high standard of diagnosis and support. The centre treats patients from birth to 18 years old, working in partnership with the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon to improve access, including financial support for those in need, while offering a full range of services such as chemotherapy and targeted therapies.
